PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR EU CITIZENS
A citizen of the Union who holds a valid identity card or travel document is entitled, without any other conditions or formalities, to stay in the territory of the Slovak Republic for three months from the day of entry into the territory of the Slovak Republic.
An EU citizen who is staying in Slovakia for more than three months is obliged to apply for free residence registration within 30 days from the expiration of three months from the day of entry into the territory of the Slovak Republic.
An EU citizen is obliged to report the beginning and place of his stay to the foreign police according to his place of residence within 10 working days from the day of his entry into the territory of Slovakia, using the Declaration of Residence form, if the accommodation provider (hotel, hostel) does not do it for him.
A citizen of the Union has the right to permanent residence if he/she resides on the territory of the Slovak Republic without interruption for a period of five years.
The police department will issue a confirmation of the Union citizen´s residence registration to the citizen of the Union on the day of submitting a complete application for registration.
A citizen of the Union may apply for a residence permit card „Residence card of an EU citizen“ valid for five years, while the citizen of the Union is obliged to submit a document of accommodation and two photographs with dimensions of 3 × 3.5 cm showing his current appearance Police Department issues a residence permit to a citizen of the Union within 30 days.

RESIDENCE OF FAMILY MEMBERS OF UNION CITIZENS
A family member of a citizen of the Union has the right to register residence if he accompanies a guarantor (citizen of the Union) whose family member he is or joins.
For a family member of a citizen of the Union, the same conditions of residence registration apply as for a citizen of the Union.
the family member of an EU citizen is a third-country national who is:
- a) their spouse
- b) their child under the age of 21, their dependent child and such children of their spouse
- c) their dependent direct relative in descending or ascending line and such relative of their spouse
- d) any other family member not covered by points a) to c) who is a dependent person in the country of their origin
- e) any other family member not covered by points a) to c) who is a member of their household
- f) any other family member not covered by points a) to c) who for serious medical reasons is dependent on their care
- g) their partner, with whom an EU citizen has a lasting, duly attested relationship
- h) a third-country national who has a right of residence in the same Member State in which an EU citizen has residence permit and the citizen of the EU is a citizen of the Slovak Republic with whom a third-country national returns to or joins for residence back in the territory of the Slovak Republic and meets any of the conditions mentioned by points a) to g) in relation to a citizen of the Slovak Republic
