NATIONAL VISA IN THE INTEREST OF SLOVAK REPUBLIC
A form of residence permit granted by the Slovak Republic, which entitles a citizen of a third country to stay on the territory of the Slovak Republic. Intended for the purpose of employment. During the validity period of the granted national visa, the citizen of a third country must not be employed by an employer other than the one for which the national visa was granted.
We recommend using this immigration process if the company needs to employ a citizen of a third country in the shortest possible time. A national visa can be granted for the duration of employment, a maximum period of 1 year, it is not possible to grant it again, except for those relocated, but it is possible to switch to temporary residence for the purpose of employment. The visa is issued in the form of a sticker with specific details of the employer.
application for a national visa can be submitted on an official form at:
- the diplomatic mission of the Slovak Republic.- conditions are regulated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs
- the Office of the Border and Foreign Police of the Presidium of the Police Force, if you are staying on the territory of the Slovak Republic legally and only in the case of the interest of the Slovak Republic (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
The diplomatic mission shall decide about an application for the granting of national visa within 30 days from its receipt.
The Administrative Procedure does not apply to the procedure for granting a national visa.
NATIONAL VISA FOR SELECTED GROUPS OF THIRD COUNTRY NATIONALS –
REGULATION NO. 113/2023
for selected job positions:
- 8331001 – bus driver, up to a total of 150 national visas
- 8332006 – heavy goods vehicle and lorry driver (international transport)
- 8332007 – heavy goods vehicle and lorry driver (domestic transport)
for all citizens of:

conditions:
- a carrier established in the territory of the Slovak Republic for at least 10 years (whereasit is not in bankruptcy, liquidation or restructuring, tax obligations have been met, has fulfilled its obligations to pay the advance payment of insurance premiums for public health insurance, social insurance premiums and compulsory contributions for old-age pension savings, unproven illegal employment in the period five years, has not had a personal or property connection to a natural person who is not a citizen of the Slovak Republic, or a personal or property connection to a legal entity established outside the territory of the Slovak Republic).

- valid passport; application for the granting of a national visa; a color photograph with dimensions of 3 × 3.5 cm; draft list of third country nationals (which are submitted electronically to the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic before submission to the relevant embassy), employment contract and the relevant authorization to drive a motor vehicle, proof of health insurance in the Slovak Republic valid until the employment contract takes effect

NATIONAL VISA TO HIGHLY QUALIFIED THIRD COUNTRY NATIONALS – REGULATION
NO. 521/2021
when applying for a national visa, the applicant submits a proof of education:
- a university diploma or confirmation of successful completion of a second-level study at a higher education institution in the Slovak Republic or the Czech Republic, or
- a higher education diploma or a certificate of successful completion of a university or educational establishment as referred to in Annex 1 to the Regulation in a study programme lasting at least three years, or
- a university diploma or certificate of successful completion of a university or educational establishment in a study programme of at least four years in the case of employment listed in Annex 2 to the Regulation

- valid passport; application for the granting of a national visa; a color photograph with dimensions of 3 × 3.5 cm; proof of education - or confirmation of successful completion of studies, a promise to employ a third-country national or a valid employment contract; proof of health insurance in the Slovak Republic valid until the employment contract takes effect.
application for a national visa of a highly qualified job seeker:
- valid passport; application for the granting of a national visa; a color photograph with dimensions of 3 × 3.5 cm; proof of education - or confirmation of successful completion of studies, sworn declaration of the purpose of stay with a certified signature of the applicant, proof of health insurance in the Slovak Republic for a period of 90 days.
After finding a job within 90 days, a citizen of a third country can change his national visa while waiting for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, where the specific information of the employer will be added to the visa sticker.

NATIONAL VISA TO RELOCATED THIRD COUNTRY NATIONALS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS
– REGULATION NO. 269/2022
national visas are granted to third-country nationals who:
- on the basis of a transfer from a company of a foreign person or an organizational component of a company of a foreign person established outside the territory of the Slovak Republic, they will be employed by an employer who is a company of the same foreign person or an organizational component of the company of the same foreign person established in the territory of the Slovak Republic and who will perform the function of a senior employee or the specialist needs extraordinary professional knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, qualifications and experience in use or management (hereinafter referred to as the "relocated employee")
- are family members of the relocated employee
- are employed in an employment relationship
- the agreed wage reaches at least twice the average wage of an employee in the economy of the Slovak Republic
in addition to the list approved by the Ministry of Economy, the applicant submits:
- valid passport; application for the granting of a national visa; a color photograph with dimensions of 3 × 3.5 cm; a promise to employ a third-country national or a valid employment contract; a document on health insurance in the territory of the Slovak Republic valid until the employment contract is acquired, a register document proving a family relationship with the relocated employee, if it is a family member of the relocate employee, and a document on health insurance in the territory of the Slovak Republic for the period of validity of the granted national visa.
A family member of a relocated employee can study or be employed during the validity of the granted national visa. Visas can be renewed.

IN THE FIELD OF INDUSTRY – REGULATION NO. 383/2023
national visa can be issued to citizens:
- Republic of Armenia, Republic of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Republic of the Philippines, Georgia, Republic of India, Republic of Indonesia, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Moldova, Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Republic of North Macedonia, Republic of Serbia, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, or Republic of Uzbekistan.
- an employer who has been settled in the territory of the Slovak Republic for at least 3 years ,has fulfilled tax obligations, obligations to pay advance payments for public health insurance premiums, social insurance premiums and mandatory contributions to old-age pension savings , unproven illegal employment in the period of two years before the date of submission of the draft list
- the employer can also be a temporary employment agency, which, however, must meet the conditions stated above
The employer submits to the Center for Labour, Social Affairs and Family a draft list of third-country nationals and consent to the temporary assignment of a third-country national if the employer is a temporary employment agency.

SCHENGEN VISA
- they authorize its holder to visit relatives and friends
- for the purpose of tourism to enter the entire territory of the member states of the Schengen area
- can be issued for one entry or several entries
- the length of a foreigner´s stay in the Schengen area may not exceed 90 days within any 6-month stay
what documents need to be submitted for a Schengen visa application?
- completed application form, presented in Slovak and English
- a color photograph of the face with dimensions of 3.5 × 3 cm
- travel document – its validity must be at least 3 months longer than the validity of the requested visa
- letters proving the conditions and purpose of the planned stay:
- individual or organized tourism – invitation from the inviting person, or another invitation verified by the Foreign Police
- business-business trips – submit an invitation issued by a business partner, for repeated business trips, submit a cooperation agreement with a Slovak company, or an invitation issued by the relevant department of the Foreign Police
- international symposia, conferences, seminars, cultural and sports events - in such a case, an invitation issued by the event organizer, or tickets to fairs, congresses, etc., or an official letter from the organization applying for a visa for its employee, is required
additional documents explaining the purpose of the trip and stay in Slovakia:
- a travel ticket or other travel document
- documents proving accommodation (the address of the person where the applicant will be accommodated must be stated in the invitation letter)
- financial security - solvency of up to 56 euros per day of stay, bank statement of regular income (pension, salary) for the last 6-12 months, or other documents indicating finances in convertible currency. Proof of financial resources must be carried, because at the Slovak border the applicant may be asked to prove sufficient funds for the entire stay.
- international travel insurance – the insurance must be valid in all Schengen member states and must cover all expenses related to his return to his country (health reasons, medical treatment, hospital stay). The minimum amount of coverage must be 30,000 euros.
- for other documents - in case of verification of the planned purpose of the trip, the embassy may request other documents from the foreigner
- an administrative fee of 60 euros
The deadline for a decision on a Schengen visa application is 15 calendar days from the date of receipt of the application. In exceptional cases, if additional documents are required or further review of the application is required, the deadline may be extended. However, it may not exceed 45 calendar days.
Within three working days of entering the territory of the Slovak Republic, a foreigner is obliged to report to the police department the place, start and length of stay. In the case of accommodation in a hotel or other accommodation facility, the accommodation provider assumes this obligation.
The foreigner must find out whether he will have to submit an invitation verified by the police department at the embassy along with the visa application.
The inviting person must apply for verification of the invitation at the relevant foreigner´s department according to their place of residence. He must fill out the prescribed request for verification of the invitation, and the purpose of the visit must be stated on the request.
the application must include:
- proven purpose of the visit
- provable financial security for the stay – confirmation of the balance in the bank account of the inviting person, which must be at least 12 times the established subsistence minimum and also the sum of 56 euros for each day of stay
- documents on securing accommodation
All documents attached to the application must not be older than 90 days. The Foreign Police must decide on the request for verification of the invitation within 15 days from the date of its delivery. A verified invitation is valid for 90 days from the date of verification. An administrative fee of 33 euros is attached to the application. The inviting person sends the invitation verified by the immigration police to the visa applicant, who subsequently attaches it to the application for the granting of a Schengen visa.
A verification of invitation may be requested by
- natural person – it can be a citizen of the Slovak Republic with permanent residence in the territory of the Slovak Republic or it can also be a foreigner with a temporary or permanent residence permit. The application must be accompanied by proof that the applicant is financially able to cover all costs associated with traveling and visiting a foreigner (confirmation of the account balance is required). If the foreigner is a relative, it is necessary to provide the original or a certified copy of the document on the relationship.
- legal entity – a legal entity or a natural person authorized to do business can be invited to the territory of the Slovak Republic if they are doing business in a similar industry. An extract of the trade certificate or an extract from the commercial register (either an officially certified copy or the original) must be attached to the request for an invitation. A confirmation of the financial security of the foreigner´s stay and departure is also attached (a confirmation of the account balance is attached).
